Laissez les bons temps rouler!
The time has come!! It’s Mardi Gras~time to let the good times roll and eat fabulous Cajun cuisine. When it comes to cooking I am no Cajun queen, but I will try my hardest until I become one! Unfortunately I will not be in attendance on Bourbon Street this year so I had to find a way to bring it to Arkansas! This recipe is so easy and even more delicious!
What you will need
- Two Chicken Breast
- One link of Turkey Sausage
- One bag of frozen Shrimp
- Organic Whole Wheat Rice
- One Red, Yellow, and Orange Pepper
- White Onion
- One Can of Rotel ( I used the Hot)
- Four Green Onions
- Five Stalks of Celery
- Seasoning (Louisiana Creole, Garlic Salt, Gumbo File Creole, Oregano, Thyme, and Celery Seed)
On oven, marinate chopped onions and peppers.
Combine cooked ingredients along with the dry ingredients into a crock pot and add 1 cup of chicken broth. Sprinkle Gumbo File Seasoning over the entire pot and let simmer for eight hours on low. In the last two hours add shrimp!
So go find your favorite masquerade mask and gaudy costumes! Serve up with healthy jambalaya and throw some beads around and you will feel as if your in NOLA itself! This way you celebrate FAT TUESDAY, just a little less fat!
